For BirdNET-Pi owners & DIYers

You already built the hard part.
Let's give it a home.

If you're already running your own self-hosted BirdNET-Pi, heardhere turns it into a proper public station — a live website, daily AI Naturalist field notes, and weather correlation — without buying any heardhere hardware. One command on your own machine sets the whole thing up.

🐦 Birds only — BirdNET-Pi doesn't do bat detection

Who this is for

This is the DIY/home-user side of heardhere — for people who've already put together their own bird-sound-ID box, not the full solar-powered hardware stations we build for nature reserves and conservation projects (those live on the main site, and do birds, bats, and weather together). If you're the kind of person who's already got a Raspberry Pi running BirdNET-Pi in the garden or on a windowsill, this is for you.

🏡
Home & garden setups
Your own BirdNET-Pi, already running — just give it a proper public page instead of the default local dashboard.
🔧
DIYers & tinkerers
You built it because you wanted to — this adds the polish (AI commentary, weather correlation, a shareable link) without touching your setup.
🎓
Students & hobbyist naturalists
A living record of what's visiting, written up in plain language every morning — good for a school project or just your own curiosity.

What you get

A station website at yourname.heardhere.uk
AI Naturalist field notes, written fresh every day
Weather correlation — how temperature, rain, and season shape what you're hearing
Your BirdNET-Pi stays exactly as it is — we never touch the hardware
Private by default; make it public whenever you're ready

BirdNET-Pi itself is free, open-source software, and always will be — this fee is for the hosted website, the AI writing, and the weather data layered on top of it, not for BirdNET-Pi.

How it works

1
Buy the add-on
£40/year, billed straight through Stripe — no separate account to create first.
2
Get your command by email
Within moments, we'll email you a one-line command with your own personal activation code already built in.
3
Run it on your BirdNET-Pi
curl -sSL https://heardhere.uk/install-birdnetpi.sh | bash -s YOUR-CODE

It asks a few quick questions — a site name, your location, and the web address you'd like — then installs the sync adapter, sets up a cron job, and runs a first sync so you can see it worked.
4
Set your password, and you're in
A second email gives you access to your own owner dashboard — the same one every heardhere customer gets — where you can make your station public, check on it, and manage its settings any time.
£40/year
website, AI Naturalist & weather correlation — no hardware to buy
Everything listed above
Cancel any time from your dashboard
Your first command arrives by email within moments of paying

Questions

Do I need to buy any heardhere hardware?
No — this is specifically for people who already have a working, self-hosted BirdNET-Pi. If you don't have one yet and want heardhere to supply a pre-built one, that's a different option — see the BirdNET-Pi section on the main pricing page.
Does this work with bats?
No. BirdNET-Pi only identifies birds — it has no bat detection at all, so a station fed this way is birds-only, permanently. The full heardhere hardware stations do birds, bats, and weather together, if that's what you're after.
What does the install command actually do to my BirdNET-Pi?
It only reads your BirdNET-Pi's own detections database and forwards new rows to heardhere every few minutes via a cron job — it never modifies BirdNET-Pi itself, and doesn't touch its configuration, models, or recordings.
Is my station public straight away?
No — it's private by default. Nobody can see it by URL until you make it public from your owner dashboard, once you've had a chance to check it looks right.
Can I choose my own station address?
Yes — the install command asks what you'd like (e.g. yourname.heardhere.uk) and tells you straight away if that's already taken, so you can pick another.
What if I lose my activation code, or the command doesn't work?
Email hello@heardhere.uk and we'll sort it out. Codes are single-use but tied to your order, so we can always find yours again.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, from your owner dashboard once it's set up. Email hello@heardhere.uk if you need a hand.
